Why Can’t We Be Friends?
Yesterday, a facebook friend presented a very good idea to me. Wanting to share her idea with everyone possible, she then asked, “How do we get the word out?” I told her to share it on her wall, asking her friends to share as well. Sounds pretty simple. Doesn’t it? The problem is that many of us only have two hundred to a thousand virtual friends.
When we get word from Taiji-Hell that the banger boats have set out, we start to pass it on. I instant message almost every one of my friends to let them know that it is time to get to work. Facebook only allows for twenty names in a mailing list, so it takes me a while to get these messages out. I say that we start utilizing the facebook features for what they were intended. If I have 5,000 friends and I post something on my wall, it will subsequently appear on that many other walls. If each of my friends has five thousand friends, who in turn pass that post on by sharing, we will reach hundreds of thousands in seconds!
Let’s rock this world, baby! Go to any friend’s page on facebook and you will notice a link in the lower left-hand column that says, “Suggest Friends.” Leave a message on their wall telling them what you have done and ask them to do the same. Send a message to all of your friends telling them you want more friends. And don’t forget to send me a friend request as well.
One other thing. If your friends list is full, find a place to congregate. There are multiple pages on facebook that are designed just for that purpose. In fact, I have one right here: Cyber Whale Warriors
“Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.” – Patchy The Pirate

The only problem I can see with that is all of our friends are not necessarily involved in the cause and it might well irritate them to have things posted on their wall that they have no interest in! I prefer to let people choose what they post on their wall as opposed to forcing it on them.
In order to not post something on your friends’ news feeds, you would have to never use your “Share” button which would utterly defeat its purpose. I have had friends who did not like what I shared. Needless to say, they are no longer in my friends list.
According to scientists, our oceans will be dead by the year 2048. The repercussions will be cataclysmic, to say the least. With the inevitable extinction of mankind finally evident to your facebook friends, will they be thankful to you that you tried to warn them or will they want to spit on your grave because you were more concerned about their feelings than the lives of their children and grandchildren? My family, my friends and my facebook friends will know that I did all I could. Even the ones who got fed up with my posts will at least be able to admit that I had enough compassion to warn them and try to get the message through their thick skulls.
If I were to not pass this vital information on, I would be like a clog in a pipe, a burnt bulb in a set of Christmas lights, a glitch in a network, a clot in an artery, a dead end! We have the means and the desire to reach the world in hopes of changing it before it is too late. What I have proposed will certainly not work if people do not simply click that little button that says, “Share.” Don’t think about it. Don’t mull over it. When a piece of information comes across your page that has the potential to save lives, hit that button before you change your mind. Why? Because it is the right thing to do. You can do it! I know you can. I have faith in you, Andrea. You are going to help us save this planet one click at a time.
“If you make your best effort to be kinder, nurture compassion, make the world a better place, then you can say ‘At least I’ve done my best’.” – Dalai Lama
Well, this seemed to have worked already in that a person using this contacted me – I discovered we had 164 friends already in common! Conclusion: It works, and may prove to be extremely useful! Thank you.
There are the ones that WANT to be active, and there are the one using FB for other purposes. The ones that those to not get involved can quickly get of the active list, as this progress will play out in some time. well, the ones with the 5000 friends are sampling us all and host us to get the message across, so already know we have the option if we have something important to share. This progress, if success full, will get thousands to join the active list if they see it works to get results.
A good idea!
Great Words as usual Holise. Always THE MAN !
I hope everyone will also consider getting information and the links for sending a message to the Japanese government to people who are NOT part of the animal related groups.
To people that have no idea as to what is happening out there. To the people who would be horrified to find out what is happening.
With respect to the slaughter of dolphins, there is a significant advantage in that these creatures are loved by most everyone.
Revered more universally than any other creature except for domestic pets, it should be easy to get others on board, those that might not normally get involved in animal issues.
This travesty is an abomination, something I truly believe no self respecting person can tolerate.
Reach out my friends, reach out. Spread the message far and wide. Show the world the pictures of horror and encourage them to act.
ANYWHERE people congregate – and there is an unlimited numbe of facebook groups and pages that attract the masses – are places we should target. And realize it is just that easy. Simply copy and paste, copy and paste, copy and paste.
How many people can you spread the message to ? How many people will see what you have to say ?
2 0 1 1 – It is O U R year.
Success My Friends. Success
