Olympic Dolphins Rocking the World

Depending on where you are in the world, an event may be happening near you at this very moment. So slam down your espresso or smoothie and put on your marching boots. The following is from the main event page:

A full page of support of the first Olympic Dolphins Global Taiji Action Day, 22 Feb 2013. This advertisement in The Guardian newspaper also invites readers to attend the London, UK event. From Peter Hall from the London Committee for the Abolition of Whaling.

On Saturday 29th of June 2013 we will be hosting events all over the world protesting the inhumane and unsustainable slaughter of dolphins in Japan. Japan is currently bidding to be host nation for the 2020 Olympics. We believe a nation who slaughters dolphins in a national park and is on international trail for whaling is NOT a suitable olympic host country. We call on the International Olympic Committee to say no to Tokyo the 2020 UNTIL the killing stops.

This will be our second world wide mass protest, following on from the success of our 22 February 2013 Global Taiji Action Day. This time round events will be held in ANY busy public place, in February events were held at Japanese Embassies and Consulates around the globe (which are often located in less prominent locations).

Any country, city, town, village, beach, marine park, anywhere that has lots of people…! (You will still have to check for local permits etc.) We have to unite to make our voices be heard, loud and clear..!

The International Olympic Committee will convene at the Olympics HQ in Switzerland on 3-4th July to receive presentations from all 3 host city bids & then debate which city should host the 2020 Olympics.

Under the Environmental Mandate of the Olympic Charter, which governs the IOC, they are required to ‘encourage and support a responsible concern for environmental issues’ The IOC & Japanese Olympic Committee are OBLIGATED to address the extremely significant environmental issue of Japan’s Whale & Dolphin hunts, which sees up to 20,000 dolphins slaughtered by various methods, throughout Japan, not just in the coastal town of Taiji.

Japan is currently on trial (June 26th to 16th of July) in the International Court of Justice, The Hague, for their ‘Scientific Research’ Whaling Program in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.

These hunts are not compliant with the guidelines of the IOC. It is OUR job to ensure that they do THEIR job correctly and no longer disregard these hunts, which are sanctioned by the Japanese Government, when considering Japan’s bid for the 2020 Games.

If you have previously hosted an event, you can use the same event, simply change the date, location & description (removing March 4th etc. See below for new description.) Most people who attended will want to attend this new event too.

Bring banners, flyers, posters etc.., be prepared to had out leaflets & EDUCATE people about what happens in Japan and tell them about our campaign to ensure that the Olympics are not awarded to Tokyo UNLESS they agree to end their out dated cruel hunts..

Banners and posters should be large and clear. They must not incite hatred or a boycott of Japan. We will not allow them to be included in our event, so please do not bring them. We have a wide selection of posters, banner and flyers available for you to print out and use.

Please note NO profanity or negativity towards Japanese citizens. Our event is aimed at the IOC & the people in POWER who have the ability to end the Dolphin & Whale Hunt, but chose not to.!
